The Healing Power of Meditation - An Evening Talk
The Healing Power of Meditation - An Evening Talk
With Gen-la Jampa, Deputy Spiritual Director, NKT-IKBU
Saturday, April 19th 5:30-7:00pm
Meditation is a tool we use to understand, transform and heal our own mind. To fulfill our own and others' wishes for lasting happiness, we need to heal our mental continuum. We can accomplish this through the practice of meditation. This is because meditation is a special method to abandon negative, uncontrolled states of mind that give rise to mental pain and endless problems. In particular, through becoming familiar with virtue - peaceful, positive states of mind - with meditation, we can develop and maintain these virtuous states of mind that are the source of happiness for ourself and others. Therefore, meditation is important for everyone.
Gen-la Jampa is an American Buddhist monk dedicated to helping people solve their daily problems by developing the capacity of their mind through the practice of meditation and modern Buddhism.
He has been a student of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso for many years. Under Geshe-la’s guidance, he has taught at many centers and events internationally. Gen-la is well-loved for his clear and inspiring teachings, and his ability to touch people’s heart through his sincerity and loving kindness.
