About this Event
Join us for an introduction to mala making and learn how to use a Buddhist mala in conjunction with mantra meditation to improve your peace of mind, compassion, and wisdom. Enjoy a peaceful Saturday exploring this traditional art by making your own mala to take home with you. This workshop is suitable for everyone, whether you are an experienced practitioner or a complete beginner. Everyone Welcome!
What is a Mala?
A Mala is a string of beads used to count prayers or mantra recitations. This is a simple practice that easily connects us with the good qualities of all enlightened beings and helps us to realize our highest potential. For Buddhist practitioners, their mala is a very precious and meaningful object.
What are Mantras?
Mantra is a Sanskrit word, literally meaning ‘mind protection’. Mantra gives our mind focus and purity and so we are protected from distraction and negative thought. Mantras are special, sacred sounds that embody wisdom and compassion. We can recite them at any time to transform our mind to a positive state.
